My name is Christian Nijhof, I come from the Netherlands, from the the beautiful province Twente, where I was born in a 'down-to-earth and normal' family and grew up in a village, together with my two sisters. Early in my life I noticed that I was different: I was very sensitive and when I was at school, I couldn't really be present and often daydreamed. Later in my work I also repeatedly asked myself: is this it? To the outside world, I led a successful (busy) life as a project leader and consultant, I was a fanatic musician and played the guitar in various formations.
Due to various personal events in my life, I have been looking for a time to get back into the flow.
I discovered that I am a high sensitive person and that for a long time I lived too much according to the expectations of others. I did not listen to my feeling, lost strength and almost worked myself over the head. By doing my own research, I discovered that especially my more sensitive side has qualities and that gives me a valuable life. Something I previously rejected about myself for being so sensitive.
In search of answers to what I really wanted: to live a life of freedom, I went on a journey.
Accepting who I really am and discovering that I can live a life from my heart: really trusting my feeling! Everything fell into place when I went backpacking alone through Asia, on the other side of the globe. The special people I met during the trip had a message for me: you can follow your heart and trust your feeling! In the meantime, I gained insights, thanks to the power of nature, Eastern wisdom, Buddhism and meditation.
Out of nowhere, I have written down my experiences and insights in my book “TRAVELING ALONE – from my head to my heart”.I would like to inspire and guide people in their journey to further discover their own "self," to create a life from freedom. I am convinced that the journey you need to make is: 'the journey from head to heart'!
